Ion azure hair color 2018

Posted on July 12, 2018 |

Okay, y’all. Today’s the day! The  is finally here!!! I was able to shop the pre-sale day yesterday, and I spent several hours in the dressing room trying on all. the. things.

Actually, I didn’t get as far as I wanted — I never even got to coats, activewear, or dresses; but I did get a good overview of what’s available for shoes, handbags, jewelry, denim, and sweaters. You know, the important stuff!!!

I will probably go back next week, or at least I’ll spend some time perusing the website over the next day or two, and I may order a few more things to try, but this post should hit the highlights.

I also hope to add a Paul’s Picks section, but that means getting my husband to sit down and look through the men’s department, so that may take a few days — only because he’s so busy with our move. He actually likes to shop and has his own style. People think I dress him, but I don’t. Anyway, I will try to sit him down and get him to work on that before everything is too picked over.

Meanwhile, let me show you what I found and what I recommend if you’re wanting to shop the #NSale this year! But first, let’s review the basics.

What Is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

The  introduces NEW fall 2018 styles at a deeply reduced introductory prices before any other retailer carries them so you can get a head start on your fall wardrobe AND make the most of your budget. Only Nordstrom card holders can shop during the Early Access Period (July 12-19), and the sale opens to the public on July 20. Prices go back up on August 6th.

What To Buy at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

This it the time to think about investment pieces and big ticket items (boots, coats, watches, handbags…) as well as some lower priced trendy items to spice up your fall wardrobe. You’ll get to enjoy them for the whole season, AND you get a great price. I try to include a mix in my recommendations, but this post is heavy on investment pieces. I will definitely add more budget-friendly suggestions to my shopping widgets.

I’ve already written an  post and my , and today I am sharing everything I tried on yesterday at the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

I will have another post later this weekend with all of my recommendations featured in those ShopStyle shopping widgets I like to use; unfortunately they aren’t working today. I think with all this new merchandise, the retailers hasn’t loaded the pictures on the site yet… or something like that. I’m so not techy. Anyway, I’m so glad I edited these pictures and put my thoughts together on them last night!

You can access my coverage at any time by clicking the link at the top of my website. As always, when you shop through my links, it helps support my business (at no cost to you) so thank you!

Now let’s get to it!!!

For size reference, I’m 5’5 and just under 140 pounds. Also, I’m short-waisted with a slight hourglass shape. I wear a 6 or 8 in pants and jeans and a small or medium in tops, and I usually wear a size 8 shoe.

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Favorites

 // //

, .90 marked down from // This sweater is true to size; I’m wearing the small. It’s a decent quality for the price point, and the fit is a little boxy, but it’s great for higher rise jeans. It is quite low-cut, so better for ladies who are smaller on top.

, 9.90 marked down from 5 // My holy grail of jeans, AG The Legging Ankle Jeans, are back this year with an updated split hem and a darker wash for fall. They run slightly smaller than most AG jeans I have, so I sized up to a 29.

FYI, if you’re not into the ripped knee, they also brought back the hugely popular from last year’s #NSale. If you want the look for less, check out for under .

, .90 // My favorite pair of booties from last fall and winter is back this year in a slightly updated style and new colors. I’m wearing the khaki snake print in these pictures, but I ended up purchasing the taupe suede. The are extremely comfortable with a padded footbed, and they run true to size. These sold out last year and were never restocked; so if you want them, my advice is to grab them while you can! They’re a great price point, and you can wear them with so many casual outfits.

//  //

 .90 marked down from // This sweater is really cute with the ruffle mock neck and blouson sleeves. It runs true to size and comes in a bunch of pretty colors; I’m wearing the small.

, 2.90 marked down from 9 // These are flattering and really fun with the front seam and slit hem, and they’re great for showing off your ankle boots. The best part is, you can start wearing them now. They run true to size; I’m wearing the 28.

, .90 marked down from .95 // I spotted these mocs from across the store when I got to the shoe department yesterday morning, and I knew they had to be mine. They come in 4 delicious colors, but I’m obsessed with this orangey/red. They remind me of Tods but at a fraction of the price. Add to that, they are so so so comfortable with a cushioned memory foam footbed and nice arch support. They have such a great cool, casual vibe, and you cannot beat the price for the quality. I am in LOVE. I actually brought them home in the chestnut as well. If you want a pair, do NOT wait. I predict these will be gone by end of day. They are true to size, but maybe a bit on the small side, so if in doubt, size up — order both sizes and return the ones that don’t fit.

, marked down from 9 // I’ve been getting reacquainted with 7FAM jeans lately; they were some of the first premium denim I ever had, and then I got into DL1961 and then into AG and Paige, but I’ve been really impressed with the 7FAM jeans I’ve tried recently. These are super soft and lightweight with a lot of stretch, and I love the high rise and the all over dark wash. Compared to the AG Farrah High Rise, I chose these because I liked the wash better as well as the more narrow ankle.

, 9.90 marked down from 9.95 // Blondo makes a fabulous boot that is waterproof with a memory foam footbed. They are super comfortable and also very smart looking with the 2 3/4″ heel  block heel. I didn’t see a ton of OTK boot styles this year, but the knee high styles were plentiful. These were definitely one of my favorites of all the ones I looked at. They run true to size; I’m wearing the 8.

// //

, 4.90 marked down from 8 // Rails makes the softest, most delicious flannels, and this one is no exception. They’re pricey, but worth it if you will wear it often. They come in 6 prints this year, and they’re all good, but I really love this combination of pink and blue. These shirts notoriously run small; I wear a medium.

, marked down from 9.95 // Sam Edelman booties never disappoint, and these were no exception. I really like this chestnut color for fall, and the detail on the side is really fun. They’re comfortable, but not as cushy as the Jeffery Campbell ones.

// //

, 5.90 marked down from 9 // This is a gorgeous sweater, thick and luxe, but there’s a lot of material. It will be wonderful to snuggle up in on a cold winter’s day, but it’s definitely not as slimming as some. It comes in 4 colors and runs true to size; if in doubt, size down.

 9.90 marked down from 5 // I had high hopes for these jeans the instant I saw them in the Anniversary Sale catalog, and I was not disappointed. They run pretty true to size, but if in doubt, size up. I’m wearing the 29.

, 8.90 marked down from 9 // This luscious cashmere sweater is a dream to wear, and I like the slightly bell sleeves. It runs true to size, or if anything, a little small. It also comes in a pretty lilac color.

, 9.90 marked down from 5 // If you’re looking for a good casual pair of high rise jeans without rips and tears, these have a great fit, and the wash is superb. AG jeans are soft and comfortable but don’t stretch out. For size reference, I’m wearing the 29, so I’d recommend sizing up if in between.

, 2.90 marked down from 8 // Every year, Tory Burch has several bags exclusively for the #NSale, and this year I’m loving how she’s changed up her designs. This tote is SO good, and y’all know how I love a good tote. The leather is a soft, supple pebbled leather, and the chain-link-and-leather shoulder straps are on trend. I love this deep chestnut color for fall, and it also comes in black and light oak (which is a very pale, neutral pink.)

, .90 marked down from 9 // These are a nice under-0 but still premium denim alternative to the AG ripped ankle skinnies. They are super soft and stretchy, and from my experience, DL jeans do not bag out with wear.

, 6.90 marked down from 5 // I’m a sucker for a Vince sweater, and I really love the mulberry/navy stripe combination on this one because it’s different from anything I have. It fits true to size — I wear a small, even though the model on the website is swimming in it. The price tag is steep, even on sale, so I’ll probably end up returning it, but it did end up coming home with me yesterday afternoon. 🙈

// //

, .90 marked down from 8 // I wanted to love this blouse, but it doesn’t fit me so well through the waist because I’m so short waisted. It’s a great little wear now and later piece, though, and the quality is fantastic.

 9.90 marked down from 5 // I had high hopes for these jeans the instant I saw them in the Anniversary Sale catalog, and I was not disappointed. They run pretty true to size, but if in doubt, size up. I’m wearing the 29.

, 9.90 marked down from 8 // I like this variation on the Tory Burch thong sandals that were in the #NSale last year. The buckle is a nice tough, and the footbed is incredibly soft and flexible — even more so than the Miller sandals. They run true to size, and they also come in a cognac color.

// //

, .90 marked down from // This 100% cotton cocoon cardigan resembles the popular Leith ribbed one, but it comes in at a lower price point. I really like the fit and the color options; it is true to size.

, .90 marked down from // This is the third year this piece has been in the #NSale, and this year it’s ribbed! I love this year’s version so much more than previous years; the ribbed texture keeps it more fitted to the body, and it’s very flattering for a long cardigan. That said, it runs very big. I’m wearing the XS, and I recommending sizing down at least one full size from your normal for a more flattering fit.

, .90 marked down from // This gorgeous silk scarf has a slight boho vibe to it, and I like how the colors say fall without earth tones. The tassels are a fun touch as well.

// Not on sale, but a great price for a basic t-shirt that can stand alone or layer under jackets and cardigans. If in doubt, I recommend sizing up; I’m wearing the medium.

, .90 marked down from // I wanted to love this blouse, but it was cut really low under the arms, and it’s a little big all over. I was going to try the XS, but my SA couldn’t find one, so I plan to order one as soon as it’s online!

 9.90 marked down from 5 // If I was in the market for another pair of boyfriend jeans, I’d definitely snap these up. They’re really cute on, incredibly soft and comfortable, and I like the wash and the cuff. I struggled a bit to style these, though, with what I had in the dressing room. I’d say they run true to size; I’m wearing the 29 but I could probably take the 28.

They are gorgeous and so on trend, but definitely an investment so consider the price per wear and how often you think you’ll wear them. I brought them home, but I’m not sure yet if I’m keeping them or not.

// //

 .90 marked down from // This cropped sweater is really cute with high rise jeans, and while the quality isn’t great, it’s a nice price for a trendy sweater. It’s true to size; I’m wearing the small.

 3.90 marked down from 0 // I went into the store yesterday determined to figure out the cropped straight denim trend, so with the help of my SA, I managed to put this outfit together with these Frame straight cropped jeans. I think I like it! These jeans are true to size, but very snug in my usual size 28. I wanted to size up, but my SA advised me to stick with the 28 because they stretch a lot. I have , and I can attest that while they look skin tight, they do slide down (which drives me batty) so I took her advice and stuck with the 28 in these. The price tag is pretty steep, even on sale, so I’m going to hold onto them and decide later if I want to keep them or not, but I definitely recommend trying them if they fit your budget.

, marked down from 9.95 // Sam Edelman booties never disappoint, and these were no exception. I really like this chestnut color for fall, and the detail on the side is really fun. They’re comfortable, but not as cushy as the Jeffery Campbell ones.

// //

, .90 marked down from // This sweater has potential, but it’s see-through, and it runs a little small. You can see it pulling across my muffin top. #nothankyou I might be willing to try it in a darker color in a size medium. It’s a nice quality for the price point.

, .90 marked down from 9 // DL1961 makes a nice pair of jeans; they fit well and don’t bag out. This pair is a nice classic dark wash in a full length skinny jean, although I feel they read more as a straight cut. I would have to have them hemmed, but otherwise they are a nice fit. These jeans run true to size; I’m wearing a 28.

, 9.90 marked down from 8 // These are a nice addition to the #NSale Tory Burch lineup. The low block heel gives just enough height without being difficult to walk in, and the matte gold medallion is a nice updated touch. They come in black, navy, and shell pink, as well as this rich merlot.

//  //

, .90 marked down from 9 // This sweater is soft and cozy, and the button detail on the sleeves is nice. It runs true to size, but I do feel it is a tad too see-through for my comfort level. I’d like to try it in one of the darker colors, though.

, 9.90 marked down from 5 // These weren’t as comfortable as I was hoping for Vince shoes, and the styling is a little “out there” for me, so I didn’t purchase these. That said, they run true to size, and they’re fun if you want a fashion-forward flat to dress up or down.

//  //

, 4.90 marked down from 8 // I love the print of this linen shirt, but I’d need a tank under it, which kind of defeats the purpose of a cool linen shirt. For the price, I just knew I wouldn’t get enough wear out of it, but I don’t tend to wear button down shirts very often. It’s a great piece to start wearing now, though — it would be cute with shorts too.

, 9 marked down from 9 // I tried these jeans on for the fun of it, but I’m not a huge fan of that hem.

, .90 marked down from 9.95 // My favorite pair of booties from last fall and winter is back this year in a slightly updated style and new colors. Chelsea28 Oversize Open Cardigan // //

, .90 marked down from // This drapey cardigan is lightweight and easy to throw on over a t-shirt and jeans (or shorts). It comes in about 6 colors and runs true to size for an oversize fit; I’m wearing a small.

, .90 marked down from 9 // These used to be my go-to skinny jeans, and they really do have a nice fit and a good wash; I’m just not a huge fan of the rear pockets. They’re also a full length jean, as opposed to an ankle jean, and at my 5’5″ I feel they’re a little too long for me. They’re great jeans, just not my personal favorites.

, 3.90 marked down from 5 // It pained me to leave this Vince sweater behind, but I could only justify one splurge sweater, and I went for a different one with colors that suit me better. That said, this sweater is so incredibly soft and cozy, I simply have no words. It’s boxy on purpose, and although I realize it’s not the best style for me, I think it looks great with these straight cropped jeans and chestnut booties.

 0.90 marked down from 5 // I haven’t shown a lot of bags in this post because I didn’t have many in the dressing room with me, but this Brahmin is part of the sale, and it’s a really fun year-round bag in a nice versatile size for everyday. I’ve never had Brahmins on my radar, but for some reason, I fell in love with this one. I love the texture it adds to an outfit.

Tomorrow or Saturday I’ll have a post with shopping widgets with all these AND MORE great picks and recommendations. Meanwhile, here’s how I’d sum up the most popular departments.

Popular trends are definitely booties loafers, and embellishments are definitely here to stay this season. There are tons of new booties this year, as well as some good tall boots, loafers, sandals, flats, and sneakers.

The look a lot like their Minnie travel flats, and I’m totally in love with the . My favorite ankle boots are a tie between the  and the . I didn’t see any OTK boots that made me swoon, but I did purchase these .

The denim game is STRONG this year at the #NSale. I was so happy to see so many skinny jeans. I know, hate me, but I love them! My top denim picks are the , the and  (brought back from last year!) I’m also loving the , and they are a great value at 50% off!!!

The are great but pricey; for a straight crop under 0, check out . For a full-length bootcut, I love .

Cardigans and boxy sweaters to wear with higher rise jeans are the biggest trends. Grab that  while you can! I recommend sizing down one from your normal (I have the XS.) I expect this to be super popular as well! The nice thing about that is, you can start wearing it now.

The  is also likely to sell out. Halogen has a lot of nice in the sale this year, and while they’re spendy, I really like the options from . More product picks coming soon!

I didn’t love the handbags this year, to be totally honest, but they definitely covered their usual bases with some good Frye shoulder bags, , , and some nice designer picks from , , and . I was also excited to see the included — this is an amazing travel bag, and it’s been on my wish list for YEARS. I just tried to order it, but the website is down. #goodtimes Get it together, Nordstrom!

I hope this post is helpful. If you have any questions regarding fit, sizing, or styling, feel free to ask in the comments, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
