"I've seen this deep blood red so many times for this fall in [fashion] shows and campaigns," Choi says. The dark, rich shade is a spin on the classic bright red, featuring a berry-colored undertone.

Instead of a neutral color with a sheer or shimmery finish, try a polish with an opaque one, says Choi. She says to opt for a shade that has a subtle contrast to your skin tone – not one that matches it exactly.

She recommends this cool, sand-colored shade, aptly named "Sandbar," which she used in : It's "both flattering and versatile because it works well with all skin types." To make it truly opaque, apply multiple layers, and you've got yourself a nail color that will go with any outfit.

3. Smoky Teal

Choi describes this shade as a transitional color since the blue in this polish is just summery enough to wear right before fall, but its darker hue is also suitable for cooler weather.

4. Black or White

Choose one end of the color spectrum, and go with a bright white shade or deep black one. "I'm seeing a lot of black and white trends that look so stylish and chic," says Choi. She mentions brands like and that used black for its Fall 2018 collections and that used white nail polish on the runway.

She suggests picking either hue for that classic look; white will pop against dark skin, while black will stand out against fairer tones.

Think of precious stones as examples, like amethyst or a rich malachite green. "Marc Jacobs used nine different jewel tones for his show to achieve a deep, rich look." Get yourself a similar shade with this shimmery dark purple polish.
