It has come to my attention that a number of members have been invited to private gatherings where the host and friends offer investment schemes to fellow members. Members are advised to be cautious with any investment schemes. And if members choose to go along the schemes, the decision and risks are yours.

These schemes usually attract seniors and retirees who have some sum of money and who wish to maintain or increase their retirement funds.

Members who are aware or have been offered such schemes can contact +65 9489 4360.

Having SHC Meeting in CBD could be quite costly for drivers who parked in CBD for meeting. Estimate parking fee + for 3 to 4 hrs parking.

A meeting outside CBD with MRT & bus facilities may be a good compromise.

SHC started in October 2005.  This month is our 13th-anniversary.  We will be celebrating this occasion with members during the October monthly gathering.

This CLAYPOT sign was my first sight when we went to [email protected] to have a check.  The previous stall is under renovation.  The seating is still the same.  If you are lost in finding the place, please look for this stall.

The Claypot corner is quiet with a good ambience. We had a monthly gathering here before and it serves our need well. The food court has a variety of food

The SHC Oct monthly gathering is scheduled as follows:

Date:     Fri 19 Oct 2018

Time:    5pm – 8pm

Venue:  [email protected]

             Food Republic Level 5

Place:   Claypot corner/Pepper Lunch Express

MRT station: Somerset

SHC monthly gathering is a good opportunity for old as well as new members to meet, greet, socialize and encourage everyone to participate in new ideas and share their interests.  This month, we would like to thank our two members, Caroline Gee and Doreen Cady,  who are helpful to volunteer to bake the delicious cakes for us and to play surprise games.

Do not miss this occasion!

IF no rain the day before and esp on day itself, will include the Forest trail????

It has been a couple of years since we scale up our country’s only Mount!
Time for a revisit to one of SG’s oldest park.

With nimble feet you shall rise up the Mount, to join tourist to behold the
panoramic view of our skyline, the southern part of SG and the southern
islands.
These views shall take your breath away, not so much the climb itself!

It is still very popular with tourist as there are a host of things to enjoy besides
the secondary rain forest that covers this mount.

Gentle Reminder:
1) Always wear comfortable shoes; light, loose clothing; bring a bottle of water
to stay hydrated; poncho/umbrella.
2) Optional items: cap, sun block, camera/binoculars, insect repellent.
3) Bring only the necessities, light is good.

Let’s pray for a clear day for us to enjoy stunning views from the peak!

In the last 6 months, I have been thinking how I can make myself younger; at least feel younger. Even until today, I enjoy going out for different kinds of late night entertainment, from India to Vietnam to Cambodia, China and Bangladesh. Basically, I cannot sit still. The feeling of going back to the hotel after 1 or 2am with the heart still pumping at 90 beeps per min makes me feel satisfied after a day of dining and meeetings.

Guys and ladies, many of us are retired. Some of us are busy helping our chldren with their kids. Of course, some of us are still working. But, the Club has also numerous members enjoying a good night out dancing and singing.

SilverHairsClub has organised many dance events since 2005. We have our “One night in different cities” each year, and theme events. Very often, we have social dancing, a couple of ballroom dancing and line dancing. I am definitely a non-dancer, but I love a good night out. For many years, I find pleasure in bringing SHC members together. Music makes the world go round. And dancing and music always come together hand in hand.

Unfortunately, I find social dancing too slow for me, maybe too complicated for the body to cordinate with the hands, hips and legs. Sometimes, I get very jealous watching dancers twist and turn. And if I ever try dancing, I finally get myself all tangled up. I appreciate Line dancing; but I have never been able to understand line dancing. But I will still support Line Dancing, as long as someone raises his/her hand to be the EO/EC.

I like something hotter and younger. The above music video clip is just the beginning. If you like it, let me know. We will have a night out together. Let me know your thots and opinion.

Please regster ypur interest here. Dont be shy.

SORRY, REGISTRATION CLOSED AS WE HAVE FULL HOUSE.  THANK YOU.

Actually it’s an excuse to invite you for Tea at my house (near Chinese Garden mrt station) and we’ll be jamming with our ukelele instead of mahjong playing.   Ukelele is also a good brain exercise and not only that, it bonds players together with good teamwork while enjoying the music and singalong.   Practice makes perfect and we’ll be better ukelele players soon and be able to play anywhere at future SHC gatherings.

You will also be guinea pigs for my Tea spread and anything new that I’ll be trying.

This is not a ukelele class  – basically it’s to gather beginners and intermediate players together but we welcome expert players too!

I intend to have it on the first Saturday of the month at 3.00 pm.

If you’re game for this please sign up below and I’ll ask Terence for help to set up a groupchat for us.

Thank you.

So last year, August, I had surgery done to remove a huge soft tissue tumour from my right thigh. My Dr said it must have been growing for years. I only realize there was a lump when i went for an MRI as it was hurting so bad. Thank goodness it was benign.

I was diagnosed with ostheoarthritis 15 years ago but it was under control but the pain eventually came back. I went for chiropractic treatment but it didnt help. Then a good friend introduced me to dancing then the pain was gone. No kidding. The pain came back only after the soft tissue tumour op. One muscle was removed and then there was only one left. My poor right hip had to work extra hard.
So last week, I had total hip replacement (THR) on my right. Down time 6 to 8 weeks and full recovery time prob 6 months to 12 months, depending on individuals age n strength. So no dancing for time being. Wondering why i MIA? now you know.

I was feeling depressed during those months of pains. Just wanted to have dinner, shower and sleep after work.
I will let you know after 6 months if it was worth going under the knife.

I am not seeking sympathy. Just wanted to share my experience. And feel free to ask me if anyone has similar problem and would like to know more about the procedure.
Lastly, boys i have not forgotten the baking classes i wanted to conduct. Will set up the dates once i am fully recovered.

In the meantime, take care and enjoy life to the fullest.
Best regards
Caroline aka Carly

The Club started having its first Business Round table dinner some 5 years ago. We had identified that not all members joined SilverHairsClub for the purpose of social networking. For this group, their interests was finding business networking partners, identifying business opportunities and keeping up with global business trends. This is how the Business Round table dinners started.

Plse note this business networking group is not for Job seekers. It is intended to bring together those who are currently in business, incorporated in Singapore. Those in business, business development, sales or marketing can also join; subject to approval.

To cater to this business networking group, we shall reorganise ourselves as SHC Business networking group.

To participate, the requirements are:
1. Whatsapp your current business card to +65 9489 4360.
2. Indicate registered name and business.

We should have our first meeting, gathering or dinner in Aug 2018.

Next year 2019, we shall have “One night in Ho Chi Minh City”. We are likely to add a 5D4N itinery together with event.

Our Club last trip was an all boys trip. It was hilarious.

Dates I have in mind are pre-CNY or mid-Autumn festival. But generally flexible.

Our trip will generally be in HCMC, and all the way to the Saigon River mouth to enjoy the majestic South China Sea and coastline. Motorcylists would enjoy this trip.

If you have a tour company whom we can try, please yell. And if you like to join the planning team, plse whatsapp me.

SilverHairsClub has numerous small groups. When members meet members, and they click, a group is formed. The numbers in the group varies, and this depends on common interests.

SilverHairsClub supports the formation of small groups by Group Leaders GL. Each group has its own outings, its own chatgroup and its own interests. GLs updates their group on the SHC monthly gathering.

As I am unable to chat with members directly, the Group Leaders GL concept works very well for me and the Club. So, if you have a small group formed, plse contact me. Usually, your name will be tagged with the letter GL.

Group leaders GL stand up very well. They keep their group informed of Club activities, gather participation and has direct Whatsapp communication with me. GL do get direct updates from me and usually I do sought their comments and suggestions.

Join the monthly gatherings or interest groups, and you are on the way to becoming a SHC Group Leader GL. Find your interest and join a group,

SilverHairsClub’s objective is to provide a platform for SilverHairs to meet new and more friends.
